Equipment Guide > Furnaces > Multi-Fuel Bogie Hearth Furnace
This bogie hearth furnace is a bespoke multi-fuel system capable of heating up to five tonnes of material. It can operate at temperatures up to 1300°C with exceptional temperature uniformity. The furnace supports combustion with hydrogen, natural gas (NG) and hydrogen/NG blends. It is fully instrumented with advanced control and sensing systems, enabling precise monitoring and data capture for process evaluation and optimisation.
Applications and Capability
This furnace is designed to support the transition to low-carbon fuels in high-temperature industries. It provides a platform to:
- Test and validate hydrogen and hydrogen/NG blended-fuel combustion strategies
- Evaluate the thermal performance and durability of large-scale industrial materials
- De-risk adoption of alternative fuels by providing representative operating conditions
- Appraise performance of OEM components, including burners, sensors and refractories
- Generate critical data to inform net-zero investment decisions and process retrofitting strategies
Its compatibility with 100% hydrogen complements our on-site hydrogen storage and distribution infrastructure, making it a key enabler for industry decarbonisation trials.
